Cody|Brock interns and new hires gain insights into interior design during a visit to One Workplace

July 20, 2016

Cody|Brock’s most recent continuing education field trip took place at One Workplace in Santa Clara, a company that creates engaging workplaces through the integration of architecture, furniture, and technology expertise. The session was led by President Dave Ferrari, General Manger Carolyn Clark Beedle, and Manager of Project Management, Construction Solutions, Andy Ackerson.

In the design lab, the team explored one of the company’s most commonly used software platforms: ICE® Technology. The designer explained how this object-oriented software provides clients with a vivid, 3D experience of their order and photo-realistic renderings of the job. She also demonstrated how the 3D interface explores design ideas and options, while pricing, specifications and manufacturing information are automatically validated behind the scenes, tracking each modification.

The team also toured the office/showroom, which featured different modular construction options to enable office spaces to meet the changing needs of today’s companies. Some examples:

  • DIRTT (Doing It Right This Time) Solutions create customizable, sustainable architectural interiors. These pre-manufactured wall systems combine digital displays with Thermofoil and fabric panels in a variety of colors and fabrics, creating a one-of-a-kind look.
  • Steelcase offers a Post and Beam framework that allows configuration of a range of work environments, as well as FlexFrame workwalls designed to create high-performance workspaces configured with functional surfaces and modular components, combining storage, organization, and built-in technology.
  • Orangebox – Flexible Acoustic Room Systems (aka “office in a box”) – meeting pods can be positioned anywhere within a building.
