1400 and 1450 Fashion Island Boulevard, San Mateo

March 18, 2016

Cody|Brock recently completed the renovation of a 13,000 square-foot outdoor plaza, connecting two Class A mid-rise towers in San Mateo, as well as the upgrade of the interior lobby in one of the towers.

The exterior renovation includes new, identical ADA-compliant ramps bordering center steps, which lead to the plaza’s striking monument sign made of reclaimed reservoir redwood. Additional features include an alternating pattern of rectangular, two-tone pavers, an irrigation system, and a variety of planters showcasing drought-resistant plants. Two large canopies provide shaded areas for outdoor dining and relaxation. The most unique design feature is a series of Gabion Walls strategically placed throughout the plaza. Filled with La Paz rocks, these wire enclosures serve as wind barriers while creating an aesthetically pleasing landscape style.

The sleek, bright interior lobby at 1400 Fashion Island Boulevard features accent walls of reclaimed reservoir redwood. The recessed, right angle LED lights guide visitors to the elevator corridor enclosed at the rear by a back-lit paneled wall. A polished concrete floor and contemporary lobby furniture complete the modern, open space.
